CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Our dear friend Beverly Kingsbury went home to be with the Lord. Her family are arranging to have a Celebration Service for Bev here at Desert Springs on Thursday, November 14 @ 11:00 am. Please join us in honoring and remembering our precious Sister. 

Nov. 12th, Eddie & Lynn Hernandez mother went home to the Lord.  Mom lived with them for the last 8 years and every day she was blessed with their love and kindness. Though Eddie, Lynn and all her friends will miss her terribly...beautiful memories will live on forever.

Prayer - someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer we might be speechless.  Did you know that during WWII there was an adviser to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped whatever they were doing, every day at a prescribed hour, for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace?  There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America.  if you would like to participate: Every evening at 9 PM Eastern (8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, & 6 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States troops, our first responders, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation.  Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.

DSC Supported Missionaries Prayer Requests

Our missionary Junio Souza contracted Hepetitus C and has moved his family from Nepal to Thailand for better treatment of his disease. He will continue his ministry and assist the Youth With A Mission work there.   Please pray for complete healing for Junio so he can resume his work back in Nepal.

OUR PASTORS in GUINEA BISSAU need SPECIAL PRAYER COVERING!  Guinea Bissau borders Guinea, Liberia & Sierra Leone where the EBOLA VIRUS outbreak is critical.  Over 10,000 people are now infected.  We faithfully and humbly give monthly support to Pastor Marius, Pastor Fona, Pastor Hiskey and Pastor Tony and also to God's Word Church.  

UKRAINE continues to crumble, people fleeing as they have no supplies, no electricity, no medical care. Lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in the Ukraine! Our missionaries Jim & Annie Leonovich are in daily contact with the supported churches and Pastors.  

Evangeline Byrnes-St. Clair has finally returned from the Philippines! She was there for months giving aide to the church and city that needs rebuilding after the devastating typhoon.  Evangeline worked tirelessly, always giving God the glory and thanking Him for the opportunity to serve Him in her country.   Give her a hug when you see her at church, welcome her back!

A CHANCE TO SERVE 

If you would like to join a team of Desert Springs Care Givers, we are developing a Hospital Care Team for visiting our Desert Springs family in the hospital.  The profile of a person interested would be one that has a heart for people who need a personal touch…someone to hold a hand, pray for them, spend a few minutes to visit, etc. 

We will have an Orientation Meeting on Thursday, November 13 at 10 am.

A PARABLE TO PONDER

Then one American Christian bends down and begins the work again of freeing those who are trapped. He works frantically with energy, passion and tears.

A special welcome to our new Pastor for Seniors & Life Groups....Jim Zeilenga & his wife Chris!   And to Sharon Wren who joined our staff as Executive Assistant to Pastor Mark.

We are very thankful the Lord directed their paths to Desert Springs Church.  Keep praying now for our continued search for a Worship Pastor and Pastor to Children & Families.  Larry McCoy is directing the worship choir in the interim and we appreciate his help!  We know all things are done in GOD'S time and waiting for clear direction.  Thank you for your prayers and continued support!

Elizabeth Lapainis went home to be with the Lord this last July. Her son Egil, who was a wonderful caregiver to her for so many years,  would now like to have a Celebration Service for her friends here at DSC.   It's scheduled for Thursday, October 30 @ 5:30pm. COMFORT and PEACE:

Norma Groves husband, Ronald, went to be with the Lord, October 6th.  They are planning a memorial service in the next week or so.  I will update you as soon as it is confirmed. Please pray for Norma, her family and friends who feel the great loss of their dear Ron. Thankfully we KNOW without a doubt he is in Jesus arms and there will be no more pain, no more tears!

I have just returned from a two week Hawaiian vacation, a much needed rest. I felt so blessed to enjoy God's workmanship each day...sunsets, trade-winds, beautiful ocean waves!  What a privilege. I'm especially aware of these blessings as I hear the news everyday of war, deadly viruses and hatred. May we all stop many times throughout the day and THANK our precious Lord for His protection, our freedom and our blessings. Pray for those under persecution, those hungry and the sick. Thank you for your love and support.

AN IMPORTANT PRAYER REQUEST FROM PASTOR MARK

I'm sending this note to you following a personal conversation I had with our missionary and brother, Jim Leonovich! He and his wife Annie are very much lamenting current events in Ukraine as Russian forces are invading. The BBC news is now describing this as war, so it is with sobriety that I write to you.

Needless to say, the Ukraine needs prayer! Already, there are many who the Leonovichs know whose lives are in danger, and sadly there are those whose lives have already been taken.

Will you join our family in praying for the Ukraine and her people? We are partnering with Jim and Annie in seeking 100 individuals from our church family who will commit to pray for the Ukraine!

1) Will you send an email to me (mcedar@desertspringsfamily.org) committing to pray for the Ukraine, the church, and every person needing Christ in this country? Pray specifically for Pastor Peter and his family, and every believer. (Peter was with us in services this past season.)

2) Will you forward a request to friends in the church who would also consider praying? Please ask them to forward an email back to me  as well - so that we can keep count. We need 100 people praying, so thank you for your help!

May God bless the Ukraine and protect her in this, her hour of need.

Need SPECIAL PRAYER for missionary Adam Hussey as he has been diagnosed with Dengue Fever.  His wife Alei is daughter of Benji & Cory Andres who are family members here at DSC.  We have a great love and appreciation for Adam, Alei and their sweet daughter Eliana who give all they have to be missionaries in the Philippines with Action International.
