A Summer Reflection:

Summer is always a quieter time here in the desert, so many people on vacation, others return to their primary home until it cools down and lots of kids are away at camp.  In the church office summer has always been a time to purge old items, make room for the new season...but I'm finding it hard to do.  All around I see files from Pastor Jim Smoke and Bobbie Fikes and the heart grief returns.  Yes, I know they are both home in the arms of the Lord and NOTHING is better than that and we will see each other again.  I know this.  But losing them here on earth leaves a void, one that can never be filled with another.  Their friendship, laughter, silly sayings, support and wisdom became part of my daily life.  So, I will continue to honor Jim & Bobbie, by serving the Lord with my whole heart, for this I believe... "I have been chosen according to your foreknowledge , Father, through sanctification of Your Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling of His blood; grace and peace are mine in abundance." 1 Peter 1:2

Continued Special Prayers Needed for Our 
Supported Missionaries  

We need to continue to lift our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in the Ukraine under attack. Our missionaries Jim & Annie Leonovich are in daily contact with the supported churches and Pastors.  It seems to be getting worse each day but GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Evangeline Byrnes-St. Clair is still back in the Philippines continuing her aide to the church and city that needs rebuilding after the terrible hurricane.  Evangeline works tirelessly, always giving God the glory and thanking Him for the opportunity to serve Him in her country.  Pray for her strength, financial support and health.

PRAISES for Pastor Tony Vaz in Guinea Bissau! He was finally issued a visa to go to Portugal and had his heart surgery.  It went well but needs our prayer for complete recovery! 


We are asking for special prayers for one of our missionaries
Junio Souza in Nepal.  Junio as been diagnosed with Hepatitis C and having to undergo very expensive treatments.  We pray for quick healing and their financial needs to be met so they continue to share the gospel in Nepal.

Dear Church Family,

By now I am sure you have heard of last weeks accident.  Bobbie Fikes, our friend & church executive administrator,  suffered a serious head injury yesterday, here at the office.  Bobbie was rushed to surgery at Eisenhower and all possible was done but she went home to Heaven on Thursday, July 10th.  A Celebration of Life service will not be held until sometime in the fall.

Please continue to pray for her husband Tim, daughter Wendi and extended family.  Bobbie was on staff for over seven years and is precious to us all. We know the Lord will give comfort and strength to her family and to us to continue in His service, and Bobbie will always be a part of our DSC ministry.
