- BIBLE, THE WORD OF GOD -

“Chin Su” will never forget the day she received her first Bible. She was finally able to hold God’s Word in her own hands and encounter Him in a new way.

Chin Su was willing to walk for more than 12 hours to get a copy of God’s Word. For many believers in restricted and hostile nations, Bible ownership is out of the question. Bibles in these areas are simply unavailable or too costly for poor believers.

This year, Voice of Martyrs (VOM) workers have collected the names of 249,843 believers from hostile and restricted nations who are waiting for a Bible. Each Bible costs just $6, including the cost of distribution.

You can help by providing Bibles to these waiting believers today. Go to www.persecution.com.

Meet Persecuted Christian, Kim Tae Jin

Kim Tae Jin finds it difficult to talk. The contrast between his life in North Korea and his life now in Seoul are too great. "The most difficult thing for me," he says quietly, "is making decisions. Freedom of choice is unknown in North Korea. The Party told us what to do. We were treated as a group, not as individuals," recalls Kim. "As I got older my doubts grew about the propaganda the government fed us."

With the hope of a better life, Kim fled to China. There he heard about Jesus for the first time when a Christian gave him a Bible. After four short months, Kim was arrested and repatriated back to North Korea where he was sent to camp number 15... the dreaded Yodok labor camp.

"I was very afraid. Even though I had not yet accepted Jesus I prayed. In prison they beat me with sticks. At night, with only a thin, torn blanket, I had to endure a plague of fleas and lice in my cold cell." Forced to wake up at three each morning Kim's day was spent in hard labor. With so little food he sometimes caught rats, snakes or frogs to stay alive. "I saw people dying of hunger and sickness," he says with tears in his eyes. "Anyone captured trying to escape was publicly executed. Prisoners were treated worse than cattle."

One day, by chance, Kim met a Christian. "I never expected to meet Christians in Yodok. The man was the leader of a group who called themselves the Community of Love." He invited Kim to confess his sins... but he refused fearful that if discovered he would be tortured. Kim quietly adds, "One day an informant betrayed the group. I watched as they grabbed hold of my friends arm so tightly that it died and had to be amputated. After that, he and the other Christians were sent to an even stricter camp. You do not get out of a camp like that alive."

Kim's last day in Yodok was April, 10 1992. Escaping again from North Korea he crossed the border into China where he met a Christian. It was here that he finally accepted His Word as truth and was baptized. Today Kim lives in South Korea. He uses every opportunity to talk about North Korea, especially about the Christians. "My personal message is this, show an interest in my country. Pray for it. We need your support."

Please Pray For:

  • Protection for Christians in North Korea; that they have opportunities to discretely share the gospel with family and neighbor
  • For the growth of the underground church in North Korea.
  • For Christians who operate safe houses in China and help refugees.

A word from our missionaries, Alan & Alei Hussey with Action International in Manila, Philippines:

The feeding programs are going well and we have begun linking our church here, Greenhills Christian Fellowship South Metro (GCFSM), with the ministry which is exciting. We have teachers volunteering their time, people leading games, and supporting the ministry in many other ways. Its great to see our church here step up and get involved in these ways.

The video ministry is going well also but I have so many projects going on now.  Please pray for the ability to do each one well to the glory of God. If you would like to see the videos I have completed thus far please click on this link.

Please pray for our support. Last furlough (2011) we had set a budget for our work here in the Philippines. We came to the field 100% funded, and 2 years in the field, our support has dropped and we are $500.00 short of our budget every month. Please pray that support would pick up again until our next furlough. Our next furlough will be the summer of 2016.

We are so thankful for what the Lord is doing here and are so blessed to be a part of it. Thank you for your partnership with us in this ministry. God is good!

Sincerely in Christ,
Adam, Alei & Eliana

DISCIPLES = WITNESSES

Jesus said the disciples will be His witnesses.
Not His lawyers. And not the judges. But His witnesses.

“So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking Him,
‘Lord, has the time come for You to free Israel and restore our kingdom?’
He replied, ‘The Father alone has the authority
to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere –
in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’
After saying this, He was taken up into a cloud
while they were watching, and they could no longer see Him.”

As a disciple of Jesus Christ we’re to be a living witness to the redeeming work He has done in our lives. That doesn't mean we’re perfect or that we have it all together. It just means that we’re devoted to growing more like Christ every day.

Notice, too, the order in which Jesus said the disciples are to be witnesses: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Jerusalem was their local community. Judea was the rest of their home country. Samaria was a neighboring country. And the “ends of the earth” represented everything geographically beyond the neighboring country of Samaria.

In the same way, we’re also called to be witnesses:
  • in our local community
  • in our home country
  • in our neighboring countries
  • and to the countries beyond those nearest us
This will look differently for each of us. But each of us can do something.
What is one way we can be a witness in our own “Jerusalem” — our own local community?
What is one way we can be a witness beyond our local community?

Message from Evangeline Byrnes-St.Clair, our missionary in Tacloban, Phillipines.

Our workers including me (Evangeline) are patiently teaching, and sharing the gospel by the Holy Spirit leading us to the lost souls into a relationship with Christ Jesus; and taking courage in God’s will. I believe the Lord is working out His will in Utap for His glory and honor. We thank you for your untiring labor of love and support, “Praise God”. We are praying for more churches and Christian hearts like yours that are willing to partner with us. Or someday will come and visit us, (come and see) in Utap, Tacloban and Region 8 in the Philippines.

Our prayers continue for blessings to be upon His harvest, and for the Lord Jesus Christ to send more laborers into the field. We are so sure and aware our enemy is very busy trying to hinder our growing, glowing and going ministry. But Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. We are always claiming the victory that God has entrusted into us for we know that we are always on the victorious side. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ overcame the world already by shielding His precious blood at the Cross of Calvary. The brethren in NLUBC-Mission in Tacloban in the Philippines are so grateful for your love to the lost souls.

PRAISES:

*That our God reveals His faithfulness to the new believers and find ways to supply their daily needs physically.

* For the survivors that now have assurance in Christ Jesus relationship, to continue seek God’s well, mercies and peace.

*To ALL who have stand with us in here in our works to glorify God.

*For ALL financial support, under girding us through prayers, your effort to encourage us and continue serving our God faithfully because of your loving kindness to us.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

· Safety during our travel visitation, good health, strength and protection.

· Zealousness in the mission work, unity to the people living nearby in their poverty of life in a relationship with each other and with Christ Jesus.

· The completion of the ongoing disaster project to recover.

· Group and one to one Evangelism

· Follow up discipleship, (Very difficult to gather people).

· For more Christian hearts are willing to help us.

· Sending more soul burdened hearts and laborers to help us to rebuild.

· For God’s will during our visitation in the Tacloban Jail/Prison, that God intervenes for our prisoner man or women and for the cooperation of the Police Officer in charge.

Thank you once again for your labor of love. “Jesus Paid the Price for our Redemption at Calvary.” Hebrews 9:26

In season together we will reap what we sow. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Thank you once again for your labor of love. We always pray that our loving God will richly bless you. “Yours for Serving to the fullness each day for Christ Jesus.” “In His calling I will follow His work in Missions, and Fully Rely On God.

Recently, I read this blog and thought I should probably share it with you, because you’re the type of people who care about community.
You understand the importance of doing life together and bearing one another’s burdens. You are invested in each person playing her part in the body of Christ, as we work together toward the kingdom of God. And you value relationships and authenticity. We all do, don’t we?

So, we get involved with a small group or a play group or a church group or a book club, and we find ourselves building friendships. We go out to lunch and we exchange recipes. We pray for one another and we celebrate with one another. We learn that some of us are extroverts and some of us are introverts. Some of us need down time and — every now and then — we all need a little bit of me time.

But, we are not meant for life alone.
Right from the beginning, God modeled the very best kind of relationship for us when, working together, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit spoke the world into existence and then made a human being and decreed it wasn’t such a good idea for this one person to go it alone.  We were built to love God, and we were built for loving one another well.

Sometimes, however, we accidentally become the fine people. The people who are strong and who have it all together.
We don’t mean to be sending mixed messages. We really don’t. We just have a hard time admitting we need help. Or that we’re lonely. Or that we’ve slipped over the edge of sadness and can’t find our way back. When people ask us how we’re doing, we say, “I’m fine.” See? Accidental Fine People. We really don’t mean to be that way, but sometimes it happens.

Sometimes, we are not the Accidental Fine People. Sometimes, we are the friends of people who have accidentally cast themselves as fine people.
And sometimes, we accidentally take those people at their word, even when our gut tells us differently. We don’t see that person in church for a few weeks, or they don’t show up to book club for a couple of months in a row and we are tempted to let it slide, even though we feel a tug on the inside to give them a call or drop a card in the mail. Or, we do call them, and — even though we hear a catch in their voice when they tell us, “I’m fine. It’s all good.” — we are tempted to ignore the urge we have to drive over right then and stand on their front porch to look them in the eye and give them a heartfelt hug.

These are the things we were made for. We were made to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and that’s not just a metaphor.
It doesn’t always take a grand and complicated gesture to step in where an act of friendship is needed. Sometimes, all it takes is a few minutes to follow through on that little nagging feeling you have in your gut. If you’ve had a feeling in your gut, or in your heart, and you’ve been thinking that maybe you should check in on so-and-so, or drop a card in the mail to a certain friend of yours, consider this an affirmation of your instinct and an invitation from the One who made us for relationship. Step away from these words and follow through. You know who you are, and these are the things we were made for.

We were built to love God, and we were built for loving one another well.
